The Cowshed is a special place for us. We have spent many hours in the mountains (read “we cycled, but mostly hiked, with our mountain bikes for 6 hours after JK said we are going for a “relaxing back country ride through the farms”. I also fell off my bike and hit my face with my GoPro. There is a scar. The mountain tested us. But alas! We are still here and damn it I want to go back to that mountain with him and find new fences to jump and trees to to throw my bike at!”) and thought where better to share our day than this magical farm.
Halfway between Lydenburg and Dullstroom, where the Highveld ends and the Lowveld begins, where the mood of the landscape changes dramatically (This is very true). Where the wind that blows from the Steenkamps mountain range is laden with stories of hunters and prospectors of old (switch your phone off so you can feel it).
It is here that you will find that the air is clear and that the veld carries its own distinctive perfume. This is where families are reminded of how special they are and where relationships are refreshed and new chapters begin. Here is where we celebrate the joy of life, friendships and love.
Friday Night
18:00 – Ons gaan nou braai
Those arriving Friday will be treated to a casual Braai at the Farm House for everyone to meet and share stories over a bottle of wine, or two, and some marshmallows around the fire.
Saturday Morning
06:00 – Mountain Bikers Delight.
JK escorts a group of willing mountain bikers up his favorite pass (3hrs). Bring your bike, helmet, shoes, water bottle and a snack. Meet at the Farm House. Return to the Farmhouse around 10:00 for some breakfast.
08:30 – Breakfast is Served.
Breakfast is served at each house. Anyone not staying at The Cowshed (our venue) is welcome to join the Kallie family at the Farm House for an assortment of fruit and breakfast offerings.
THE WEDDING – 24 March 2018
15:00 – Family and Friends Gather.
A light refreshment table before the Ceremony adorns a variety of our favorite snacks as well as a selection of Spritzers and Gins to help cool off from the day.
[For those staying in town, ensure you leave 30 minutes earlier due to poor road conditions]
15:30 – The Ceremony Begins.
With the view of that special mountain pass, we will come together before Family and Friends to confirm our commitment and love for one another.
16:30 – Family Photos and Garden Games
While we take photos , you can enjoy the farm space and some Garden Games. It is a lot like the Olympic games, except it is in the garden…and you can drink gin while playing.
18:00 – Celebrations!
We’ve spent one evening jotting down some of our favourite foods. Our caterer has turned even a “braai-broodjie” into a Gourmet snack. Let’s feast!
(Kids are invited for a movie at the Farm House. Child minders will be on duty and kid-friendly food will be provided for those picky fingers)
Some time after that – First dancing, Speeches, Cake cutting and More.
A program will be up to indicate all the little details.
Sunday Morning
09:00 – Breakfast and Champagne.
Join us for our first brekkie as a married couple. Everyone is invited to the Farm house for this one. I love me some croissants.
